Working People, Working Places

The objective of this project is to provide an intensive place-based approach designed to significantly improve sustainable employment outcomes for residents. The project model was launched in Brent (St. Raphael's Estate) and Barnet (Burnt Oak ward) with integrated customer-centred jobs teams providing all out of work residents with direct support and signposting to wider provisions.


The team supporting this approach comprise of a multi-agency dynamic involving two Local Authorities, Jobcentre Plus, Housing Providers, the Work Programme, Voluntary Community Sector organisations, local colleges, Public Health and Youth Services.The wrap-around package of services available to residents consists of:

  • Support to tackle wider barriers to employment
  • Support and advice on income and financial matters
  • Employability support
  • Direct links to employers, vacancies / work experience and in-work support
From the success of the pilot, the ambition is to roll out the project across the West London sub-region.
