Strategic Framework for West London

The West London Alliance (WLA) and West London Business (WLB) are collaborating on a major initiative, supported by the London Development Agency (LDA) to drive forward a Sub-Regional Economic Development Strategy for West London.

The first stage consisted of a baseline research study. Click here for full research findings.

An early vision of what might constitute a competitive and successful economy was explored at a consultative conference in October 2003, to which key stakeholders were invited. Partners and business leaders participated in facilitated discussions on the shape of the strategy.

Seven themes, which were seen as particularly relevant for the sub-region, were identified:

There were cross cutting social and environmental issues which ran through all the above themes, which can broadly be referred to as Sustainability and Diversity. Consideration was given to each within the key themes.

As a consensus emerges on what the core issues are, a shared agenda for the sub-region will be progressed incrementally, building on the initial research undertaken by DTZ Pieda Consulting.

The next phase will involve developing a strategy and detailed implementation plan. Click here for a summary of the conference.
